What Do You See?

WHAT DO YOU SEE?

“15 And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?

16 And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.

17 And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.”
-2 Kings 6:15-17 (KJV)

The just shall live by faith. They will walk not by sight but by faith. What I see isn’t the entire story. What I can comprehend isn’t all there is! There’s a whole other world of events I can’t see. Faith serves the believer for eyes, and makes him see what others cannot.

I.SATAN WANTS TO BLIND FROM THE HEAVENLY

1. EDEN

“For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.” Genesis 3:5-7 (KJV)

Adam and Eve’s natural eyes were opened but their spiritual eyes became blind. Unholiness became exposed. They saw things they didn’t see before because their nature changed. The devil wants to blind you from an entire side of reality. What the devil didn’t tell them was that even though their natural eyes would be opened, their spiritual eyes would be blinded.

2. SAMSON

Samson had great power in God but he kept playing with the flesh. Samson kept toying with his consecration to God. The devil is constantly tempting him. Eventually, we find him serving the enemy with his eyes put out!

3. NEBUCHADNEZZAR

The great king of Babylon would afflict kings that he captured by putting their eyes out.

“In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” – 2 Corinthians 4:4 (KJV)

II.THE NATURAL EYE CANNOT SEE THE HEAVENLY

1.God is everywhere yet blinded eyes can’t see him. The natural eye cannot see heavenly things.

“But he answered and said, every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.” – Matt. 15:13-14

“The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints.” – Ephesians 1:18 (KJV)

III. GOD ALONE CAN REVEAL THE HEAVENLY

We can lead the blind, but we cannot make them see; we can put truth before them, but we cannot open their eyes; that work remains with God alone. Some use glasses, telescopes, binoculars, etc, but all in vain, while the eyes are blind. The cure is the Lord alone.

Satan counterfeited this in the garden when he said, “Your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods” – Genesis 3:5.

IV.WHAT DO YOU SEE?

“The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.” – Psalms 34:7 (KJV)

“Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him. But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.” – Hebrews 2:8-9 (KJV)

CONCLUSION:

If we can exercise our faith to focus on Jesus and realize that there are things we do not understand, but somewhere in that darkness we can see Jesus, that’s enough. Our prayer and desire should be that our spiritual eyes be opened so that we do not focus so much on the natural. Jesus is all we need !!
