You’re “busy” –  I get that. Everyone is busy. No matter who you talk to, they are usually stressed over how much is going on in their lives. What I find most interesting though is how little progress is made. How many times have you sped through the day and collapsed from exhaustion only to wonder what you actually accomplished? Be honest!

Going Somewhere2

What’s the prize at the end of the game? Are you living for a purpose or just wandering around doing whatever? Decide now to make your life count for something more than the temporary. What will eternity record about you?

“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, [that] I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:” (Deut. 30:19 KJV)

But that’s only part of the story. Every journey requires certain tools. I want to give you 3 things to consider as you travel toward a life that matters.

All the maps in the world can’t make up for lack of commitment. Have you ever tried to lead someone and felt like you were dragging the stubborn mule? (I’m being as nice as I can here) You can have a dream or desired goal in mind but if you’re not willing to commit that’s all it will ever be. One of the most frustrating things in the world is to see the potential in someone but realize they have no drive to ever do anything with it. Commitment is critical!

Jesus Himself warned against planning without considering the cost. If I’m planning a vacation with my family I know I must consider the cost. That allows me to plan as many activities as possible without being blind-sighted by a lack of resources. In this journey of faith & life we must realize it’s going to cost us something. Knowing the sacrifices involved ahead of time keeps me from the temptation to pack up & go home when a difficulty arises. I’m prepared. I know there’s going to be sacrifices along the way. I’m ready to make it happen!

To me, this is the most important element of the journey. We take for granted when looking at a map that the author knows what he/she is talking about. Somebody, before me, traveled this way. Someone has explored routes, charted roads, labeled exits, etc. In life, I look to those who have traveled the road I’m on. Whether it’s a specific career path or just a season of life, chances are someone has been here.
More importantly, my map for life is God’s Word, the Bible. I trust it’s Author. I trust He knows which route is best for me. Jesus came to earth to traverse the infirmities of man & to conquer our greatest hinderances. When I read and digest the map for life I know it’s reliable.

One day we’re all going to go “somewhere”. Should Jesus tarry His return we’ll pass the way of all the earth – the grave. It’s an appointment we cannot avoid. But there is something much, MUCH more significant than death.

“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:” (Heb 9:27 KJV)

Where are you PREPARING to go? You will not end up in Heaven by accident! Jesus commanded us to follow Him. Are you? Have you fully surrendered your life to Him. Call upon Him TODAY! Do not gamble with eternity! It may come upon you sooner than you had planned.
