GOD NEEDS GIDEONS!
Do you remember Gideon in the Bible (Judges 6-8)? He was a Hebrew judge who vehemently opposed the Baal cult and defeated the Midianites. Gideon is probably most remembered for his battle against the Midianite army with only three hundred men. What was it about Gideon that made him so great? Could he have possessed the same traits that God is looking for in us today? Lets examine Gideon.

1.HUMILITY:
In Judges 6:15 – “And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? Behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.”

Here we find a man with a very small estimation of himself. He felt he was the least of the least and in no way could defeat the Midianites. He wanted God to show him a sign that he was really talking to him. God sent an angel to do as he had requested and then Gideon believed, but only after God sent the sign. God honored his fleece. I’m not much of an advocate of “fleecing” The Lord every time we have a question, but there’s no denying God’s response when Gideon asked. More than Gideon’s fleece, I believe it was his humility that moved God!

2.DILIGENCE:

Romans 12:11- “Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;…”

When it looks like there is no hope of change, be diligent and keep pressing on. Those who press on, stand out!

3. FAITHFUL
We cannot make an alliance with the enemy. We should have no connections to systems of the world, family or not!!
READ JUDGS 6:25-27

4. CONSECRATION
READ JUDGES 6:22-24
Gideon was hesitant until his altar. His ALTAR was the line in the sand!!

CONCLUSION:
Do you sometimes feel like Gideon? Do you feel like you just don’t measure up? If you will move forward when you hear the voice of the Lord and do as he has commanded, you can do great and mighty things. We need to draw a line in the sand and stand firm on what God has told us to do.
