3 Things Jesus Is Looking For

When was the last time you went shopping for something specific? A new vehicle, an appliance for your house, or maybe just a new pair of shoes. Most likely you had some idea of what you were looking for. You had color, quality, and a possible price in mind.

Have you ever considered that The Lord might be also looking for something specific in us – His creation?

“…Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?” Luke 18:8 KJV

Without stating the obvious (ok, I’m still going to state the obvious), it seems apparent that The Lord is looking for something unique. I would like to walk through a couple of passages to investigate what that might be.

Maybe you feel you do not possess that kind of faith, but let’s find out. Let me give you  a very simple definition of faith. Faith can be described as a measure of faithfulness toward God. We know, according to Scripture that God is perfectly FAITHFUL, and we are given a measure of faith. Faith then, is a measurement of how faithful I am to Him, His Word, & His will.

“Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. 43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. 44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. 45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? 46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.”   Matt 24:42-46 KJV

“Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. 2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: 4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps….13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.”    Matt 25:1-4, 13 KJV

Have you given proper diligence to be filled with everything the Lord has provided? Are you lacking in joy, peace, wisdom, love, etc? He has made a way through His precious Spirit!

The foolish virgins in our text were as pure spiritually as they could be, yet they lacked the diligence to be prepared. They were virgins. Their doctrine was pure, their church attendance was perfect, they knew how to pray. Their only fault was they made no provision to remain filled.

This is an ongoing process with The Lord. Many view salvation as a one-time prayer and off we go! Salvation is not an EVENT! It’s an ongoing EXPERIENCE and relationship with the Savior!

“For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. 15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. 16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. 17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. 18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money. 19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them….26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: 27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. 28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. 29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. 30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”    Matt 25:14-19, 26-30 KJV

We weren’t saved just to take up space. We were created and  saved to bring glory and honor to Jesus Christ. Would you consider your life fruitful? What have you contributed to Him lately? Unfortunately, we have become mostly consumers rather than producers. After all, Jesus has given us His very life – He deserves more out of us!

So, are you displaying the kind of qualities He’s searching for?

“…Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?”    Luke 18:8 KJV
