HOW’S YOUR A.I.M.

images-3

So how is your aim? No, not necessarily with an actual firearm, but with your future. Are you aiming for anything specific or are you wandering through life hoping the outcome is a pleasant one? Someone once said, “Failing to plan is like planning to fail.” Where would you like to be in 5, 10, or even 25 years? Let’s check our aim.

Now I’m an avid gun enthusiast. I grew up in the woods hunting and shooting for recreation. I love to target practice, and I also know there are some principles at work that must be followed. Theses principles also apply in life & leadership.

A.I.M.

A – Assessment – Where Are You?
You can’t properly hit the target if you don’t know where you are in relation to it. If you were target shooting with a rifle and a scope, you would need to set your scope according to the distance of the target. This also applies to goals in life. Before you can reach those goals, or targets, you must examine where you currently are in relation to it. Be honest here. It’s easy to try to convince yourself and others that you’re not that far away. Pull the trigger here and you could fail miserably!

I – Investment – What Are You Willing To Pay?
Every target worth hitting in life will cost something. For a skilled marksman, there’s an investment in equipment and time. If you’re not willing to sacrifice something – STAY AT HOME! Invest in what’s important! Your relationships with God, Spouse, Children, close friends, etc., will all require investment. Be willing to pay the price now & enjoy the rewards for eternity!

M – Movement – PULL THE TRIGGER!
Stop thinking someday, somehow, maybe, if….. There come’s a time when you’ve thought and planned long enough. It’s time to move out. Many people spend all there lives planning to do something but never follow through. For years they’ve been talking about something they’re never gonna do. I don’t want to be one of those people. I don’t plan on sitting around telling my grandchildren about all the great plans I had. I want to show them videos and pictures of great adventures!

So how’s your A.I.M.? ASSESS where you are – INVEST in where you want to be and – MOVE!

Let me know your thoughts in the comments. I look forward to hearing from you!

How’s that for perspective?!

THIS ONE’S DIFFERENT

20130205-110607.jpg

Matthew 4:1-11
1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.
3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in [their] hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

Luke 8:22-25
22 Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth.
23 But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled [with water], and were in jeopardy.
24 And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.
25 And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.

In both of the passages before us we find encounters with Jesus that impressed those involved. Both the disciples and satan himself came away with one thought, “this one’s different!” Let’s take a moment to examine this incredible individual we know as Jesus.

CHRIST THE CONQUERER

1. CHRIST CONQUERED THE DESTROYER

Hebrews 2:14 (KJV)
14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

1 John 3:8 (KJV)
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

2. CHRIST CONQUERED SIN

I John 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

3. CHRIST CONQUERED THE WORLD

John 16:33 (KJV)
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

4. CHRIST CONQUERED DEATH & HELL

Revelation 1:18 (KJV)
18 I [am] he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

You may have been hurt, disappointed, & even mistreated by someone, but this one’s different! You may have tried “religion” before, but this one’s different! Why not give Jesus a try? Cast your cares upon Him & see for yourself that this one’s different!

I look forward to hearing from you in the comments section!
