RIDE IT OUT!

Today’s post is a condensed version of my Sunday morning message to our church family here at Victory Assembly.
“RIDE IT OUT”, are the words I felt the Lord whisper to me this past week. Our church has been going through an interesting time of change & transition lately. Inevitably, there are going to be some people who feel it’s time to search for greener grass.
While dwelling upon these things a few days ago the Lord gently directed me to these words. I began to work my way through what these words truly mean. So here goes.

#1 STORMS ARE INEVITABLE
Some will be small and some will be like Paul’s Euroclydon in Acts 27. Bottom line is they are inevitable or inescapable. Living in Florida I’ve had to learn great respect for storms, especially hurricane-sized ones! I’ve often thought about where in the country I could live to escape the ravaging effects of such beasts to no avail. Take your pick. Hurricanes, tornadoes, ice storms, and the list goes on and on. They are an inevitable part of life. Like nature’s storms, there are other types of storms as well. Family storms, emotional storms, leadership storms, and maybe most importantly, spiritual storms.

#2 PERSEVERANCE IS INDISPENSABLE
“If someone isn’t FAITHFUL enough to ride out the storm with you, they aren’t FRIEND enough to enjoy the sunshine.” -Yours Truly
I know that doesn’t sound very compassionate, but it’s true.
“A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.” (KJV) Proverbs 17:17
I’m certainly not advocating an unforgiving spirit, but you should know who you can lean upon in times of difficulty. If they’ll abandon ship in the storm they’re not passionate about the destination. Surround yourself with people who know the value of your dream. Include them, help them, pour into them, join hands with them, but know you can depend on them!

#3 VICTORY IS ATTAINABLE
There is always the other side! The storm can’t last forever. It has its purpose but it also has its limitations. “This too shall pass.” Don’t you just love those words?
You might be asking how that’s possible when all you see is a raging storm. There is One who can walk upon the storm, speak peace, and even ride it out with you. His name? Jesus Christ – Prince of Peace! He’ll ride it out with you, and even if the boat is destroyed He’ll walk on the water. Victory is attainable!

So remember:
#1 STORMS ARE INEVITABLE
#2 PERSEVERANCE IS INDISPENSABLE
#3 VICTORY IS ATTAINABLE

So……..RIDE IT OUT!!!!!!

I MISSED MY FLIGHT

OK, I didn’t really miss my flight but it’s the idea for this blog post.
Have you ever missed a flight? (been there, done that, shamefully wore the t-shirt!) Can you remember opportunities that seemed to get away? Why? Were you scared? Distracted? Too busy? I originally wrote this blog post a few days ago sitting on a plane headed for Haiti on a missions trip. I was thinking about the incredible adventure that awaited me, and all the opportunities in life I have allowed to pass me by.
I have decided that I want to live a life of adventure & risk-taking. I want to live with as few regrets as possible.
How about you? Is fear crippling you? Are you too comfortable? Is the Lord asking you to get out of your comfort zone & do something worthy of His glory?
Here’s just a few things that can cause you to “miss your flight”:
* FEAR
* PRIORITIES OUT OF ORDER
* NO SPIRIT OF ADVERNTURE
* NAYSAYERS
* SELFISHNESS – SELFLESSNESS NEEDED FOR TRUE ADVENTURE

So what’s causing you to “miss your flight”? Why not seek out some new adventures today? Start exploring. Trust me, it’ll be worth it!

GET UP, GET OUT, & GET GOING!!!!!
