042: Watching the Water

Help! Could somebody help me out? I’m tired of living like this. I would love to be free from these burdens . . . from this problem . . .  from this addiction, but no one has been able to help me. Family has failed me. Friends have betrayed me. Doctors have let me down.  I have no one to help me . . .  nowhere to turn!

I love God, and fear Him. But I am frustrated with this idea of being a Christian. It seems like everyone else gets their prayers answered. Everyone else gets ahead, prays through to their miracle. But not me! I’m still stuck in this same old rut, struggling with this same sickness, battling with these same addictions. Haunted and tormented by these same memories and regrets. Should’ve! Would’ve! Could’ve! It plays over, and over again in my brain. I feel like it’s too late for me. I can’t go back and change any of it. I feel so ashamed of it all. I don’t blame God one bit for not answering my cries! I don’t deserve God’s mercy.

Can you relate? Do you feel hopelessly condemned? Do you worry you’ll never be good enough for the churched crowd?

Stop looking to man! We’re all unworthy! God is no respecter of persons! He loves you as much as He loves another. What He’s done for others, He wants to do for you. Your life may be a wreck, but there’s no burden God can’t shoulder, no battle He can’t win.

Jesus Christ is that fix, or cure, you have desperately searched for. And unlike man, He will never let you down. He will never condemn you! When we do mess up (and we all do), Christ is always there to pick us up, dust us off, and put us back on track.

Stop worrying about what people think about you! Stop putting your hope in what this world has to offer you, and start focusing on what God is offering you. He longs for you to surrender to Him . . . all the mess, all the brokenness, all the bad habits, all the addictions. Surrender it all to Him today! Tune in to this podcast episode.  Stop watching the water and start looking to Jesus Christ!
